You will come to realise that on my blog I love to showcase the place my parents now call home. It really is a beautiful slice of paradise off the coast of Townsville in North Queensland, Australia. It has the beach, the bars and the bush walks. So if you do end up in tropical north Queensland during your visit to Australia, hop on over to Magnetic Island.

Magnetic Island consists of over twenty bays for swimming, frolicking and relaxing. My parents live in Horseshoe Bay, my granddad lives in Nelly Bay but today I am featuring Arthur Bay. Here are a couple of photos I took over my Christmas break at Arthur Bay, which is a very secluded beach on the island’s north side. You will need a decent car to navigate the not-so-great road, but as you can see, the beauty awaiting you is worth it. If you have cash to splash, you can even rent a house right on the sand. Private beach anyone? My parents actually look after the house for the owners and it is known to host a fine wedding.

A word of warning though. Remember that during the months between October and March, northern Australia gets swarmed by these evil things called stingers. They are teeny tiny killers that lurk in our hot oceans, so do not go swimming without a stinger suit during this time. You can see me modelling a stinger suit here. Hot stuff. But hey, it’s better than getting stung.
Arthur Bay is still pretty from the shore or clothed in head to toe lycra. Magnetic Island is also in the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park, so Arthur Bay is a great place to go snorkelling too. Ensure you add my friend Arthur to your Maggie Island itinerary.
