I love markets. It doesn’t matter where I am in the world, the first thing I do in a new place is discover where the best markets in town are held. I love the one-of-a-kind gifts you can pick up and I love that markets showcase their town’s unique culture. So from today I am going to highlight my favourite markets from around the world on. Enjoy!
Luang Prabang Night Market
To kick off the segment I thought I would choose one of the best markets I visited during my South-East Asia trip last year in my favourite town in Laos: Luang Prabang. The market is held every night from 5-11:00pm on Sisavangrong Road, the main road in the middle of town. I picked up some amazing gifts from the Luang Prabang Night Market for my family back home, and maybe one or two things for me.
You can purchase many products made from beautiful silk or carved from wood. I bought myself a lovely scarf for approx $4.50AU, plus a homemade apron for my mum and a t-shirt for my dad. Friends also purchased wonderful paintings from local artists, lanterns for friends back home and scarves of all different styles. I am a bit of a scarf fanatic, and man I could have added so many to my collection right here. But I restrained myself.

I loved the variety of products on offer at the Luang Prabang Night Market. Plus when you are finished shopping you can head down “Eat Street” as I like to call it and buy some authentic Laotian food like their crispy pork snack – yum! Definitely set a night aside when you visit this amazing town in Laos to check out the night markets, you won’t be disappointed.
