Wanderful is an international membership community of independent, adventurous, globally minded women who travel.
I first learned about Wanderful when I pitched them a story about travelling solo around the United States. My post was published on the website, and since then I’ve kept up-to-date with the community through newsletters. I love what they are about: women helping other women confidently travel the world.
Friends I’ve met around the world
At the end of February, Wanderful launched the world’s first female-only homesharing network. I for one think this is fantastic news. There’s no better way to travel and really experience a new destination than through the eyes of a local. Some of the highlights from my trip around America were in places I stayed with couchsurfers, like Boston and Montgomery in Alabama. When I couchsurfed, I only stayed with female hosts, as this just made we feel more comfortable. This new network now takes this to a whole new level.
Wanderful’s CEO Beth Santos says: “By cultivating a live network of women around the world, we’re able to use our collective experiences to empower one another to travel. Our homesharing network is an exciting new way for women to create these connections in person and not just online.” I couldn’t agree more.
Through the network, members can offer a room in their home for a small fee. Every membership is identity-verified like Couchsurfing, to build trust and community among female travellers. If lodging isn’t available, members can also offer to show another traveller around their hometown. Maybe they can show you where to eat or which tourist attractions can’t be missed?
“It’s a real comfort to know that, wherever you are in the world, whatever airport you land in, you know at least one person there who can help you navigate your new city or just be a friend,” Santos says.
But this is just one of Wanderful’s projects, and one way they inspire other women. Wanderful also hosts local and international events, like Wanderfest and Women in Travel Summit. The local chapters allow women to connect with other like-minded travellers within their city. They also host #Wanderful Twitter chats and so much more. Definitely check out their website for more information and for all the ways you can get involved.
Together with Wanderful, I am giving away 10 one year global memberships on Instagram today. But they also gave me a promo code, which gives you $15 off membership. Visit Wanderful and enter the code HAYLEY17. I hope you join and are able to make some friends on the road.
