Welcome back to Hayley Lately. Each Monday, this is where I share some happy moments from the previous week: what I’ve blogged, read, watched and done in beautiful Vancouver.
♥ Celebrity sighting. I usually begin Hayley Lately by talking about my (usually boring) work status. But I worked all jobs last week and the most exciting thing that happened was I saw a celebrity! The food truck was serving at the TED Talks Conference in Vancouver, and it turns out supermodel Karlie Kloss was attending. I took a stalker photo so I had proof, but let me just say she really does look that stunning in reality.
♥ May. How is it already May? The months really do fly by when you get older. May also means I’m halfway through my writing contract (woh). In true Raincouver fashion, it’s currently raining, but the forecast for the week ahead does include some of those elusive suns, so I am getting excited. We definitely saw some more blue at the end of April. I really just want to be able to wear dresses again :)
♥ Taco Thursday. Oh, you bet we went back to Tacofino for our monthly taco fix. It’s tradition now. I had to laugh though, as I think this was the first time I’d actually visited and could see my meal. It’s usually already dark, but hello daylight savings!
♥ Game night Friday. I went to my friend’s surprise party on Friday night. We played a lot of fun Jackbox Games. It’s a good idea when you have quite a large group, as everyone plays using their phone. Technology, hey! My favourite was Quiplash, and I was horrible at Drawful. The only artistic genius in my family is my dad.
♥ Fun Sunday. To wrap up my week, we did another Escape Room experience. I liked this one more than the previous one we did, and we managed to escape with five minutes to spare. They are something different to do with friends. Because it was SO nice out, we headed to Tap & Barrel at Olympic Village to sit on their patio for dinner and soak up some sun (I recommend the fried chicken burger).
I took the above photo on my friend’s iPhone, but this is why you live in Vancouver. So pretty. We finished the night by visiting Glenburn, which is designed like an old school soda shop. It’s actually across from my bus stop, which is dangerous now I know how good it is. My friends had a sundae (with a cherry on top), while I got my ice-cream chocolate dipped. The perfect end to a fun week.
♥ New Reads. I read a YA book called Before I Fall last week. The movie version is being released this year and when I saw it on the shelf at the library I thought, why not? It was actually better than I expected. I initially thought it was going to be a monotonous Groundhog Day-style read, but I actually really liked it and the main character, Sam. Highly recommend for a beach read this summer.
♥ Watching. I’ve been a little busy this week so have just been watching Girlboss and 13 Reasons Why when I get a chance. I was also excited for the latest Blindspot episode after it had a break. There’s still no news whether it will be picked up for Season 3, so I’m basically already crying. Bring it back!
It’s a bit of a chill week in Hayley land, but expect some new posts!
