In an effort to blog more, I wanted to breakdown my monthly Hayley Lately posts into weekly segments. Each week I will share some happy moments: what I’ve been blogging, reading, watching and doing in beautiful Vancouver. Let’s just call it my weekly gratitude journal.
♦ Christmas: This year was actually the first Christmas I have spent alone, but I actually didn’t mind. I opened my presents via Skype on Christmas Eve, I went for a long walk through the snow on Christmas Day, and I watched some classic Christmas movies. I may have been alone but I didn’t feel lonely, which is always what is most important.
♦ All the books: Man, did I finish a few books in the past couple of weeks! This also meant I officially read 51 books in 2017. I kind of don’t know how, but I am challenging myself to read 50 again this year. There was Nothing More, a good YA book. Next was What Light, which was Christmas-themed but a bit too lame for me. I then finished Shay Mitchell’s book (from Pretty Little Liars), Bliss. I did like that this book featured Vancouver, and it did take readers on quite a worldwide journey. Finally, I decided to read Bridget Jones’ Baby. But now I need to watch the movie.
♦ All the favourites: I decided to do a big post listing all of my favourite things from the past year. This includes favourite posts, TV shows, travels and bloggers. Find it here.
♦ Party time: I went to two different Christmas parties in the past fortnight. The first was with my friends, where we did a Secret Santa gift exchange, played games and ate a lot of delicious food. The second was for the Christmas Market I was working at non-stop in December. It was great to enjoy a drink with new friends and relax after a hectic month.
♦ Celebrity sighting #2: Two celebrity sightings in one month? I guess I am hanging/working at the right places. I thought I saw an actor while working at Rogers Arena. After doing some Wikipedia research, I was correct. I saw Josh Segarra. I know him from Chicago P.D., but apparently he is currently on Arrow, which is filmed in Vancouver. Just who will I see in 2017?!
♦ Another snow day: We got more snow on both Boxing Day and New Year’s Eve. As I went for a walk yesterday I thought that on the first day of 2016 I was walking in the sun at Bondi Beach. A year later I was walking in the snow in Vancouver. A lot can change in one year.
♦ 2017 goals: I am not really one to write resolutions, but I do have goals I want to achieve in 2017. Specifically, I want to learn more about social media, I want to grow my freelance writing business and I want to push myself out of my comfort zone more. May this year be about saying yes.
This week sees me booking some travel (!!), hanging with my friends and relaxing.
