Welcome back to Hayley Lately. Each Monday, this is where I share some happy moments from the previous week: what I’ve blogged, read, watched and done in beautiful Vancouver.
♥ Working. It was another non-eventful working week for me last week. On the food truck we went all around the Greater Vancouver Area: to Granville Island, Burnaby, North Van and Delta. The constant change of scenery is definitely one of the business’ best aspects. I also don’t hate the food I get to try for free from different food trucks. Last week I sampled a pizza from Community Pizzeria. Yum, guys. They actually have a wood fired oven on their truck!
♥ Reading. Last night I finished reading A Gathering of Shadows. I think I actually enjoyed this sequel more than the first novel, which never happens. Next I need to read the final novel in the trilogy. I am also nearly at the end of Passengers, which is like a YA version of Outlander. It includes time travel, history and cross-century romance.
♥ Writing. Some exciting news from last week was that my writing contract with The Culture Trip got extended for three months. This does mean I’ll be working on the road, but I couldn’t say no to more money and experience. My favourite story from last week was a piece on the best secret swimming holes from around the world. It was the first time I’d written a global piece and I loved doing the research. Just look at some of the images!
♥ Watching. I tried to cut back on my TV watching last week, so I could spend more time organising myself for my holiday. In saying that though, I did watch two movies on Saturday night: Reality High and Hidden Figures. The films couldn’t be more different. Reality High is a new Netflix film, which I just happened to see on my Netflix home page and thought, why not? It’s a total cheesefest high school movie, but sometimes that’s what’s needed.
I then went searching for something else to watch and realised Hidden Figures had been released on Netflix. Having read the book, I was excited to watch the movie. I have to admit that the movie did the book justice. It has an excellent cast and I highly recommend it.
♥ Blogging. I’ve struggled to balance blog writing with paid writing over the past couple of weeks. But I hope to have a new post up soon! In the meantime, I’ve been making a couple of changes around here, like an updated About page and a new Start Here page.
♥ Falling. Last week was an odd one, weather-wise. It was sunny, then it was hazy and humid due to more bushfires south of the border. Then it rained and dropped to 15 degrees on Saturday, which was definitely unwelcome. This week it’s meant to remain steady in the 20s, so my fingers are crossed!
This week includes a little work, a hair appointment and an island getaway!
