Welcome back to Hayley Lately. Each Monday, this is where I share some happy moments from the previous week: what I’ve blogged, read, watched and done in beautiful Vancouver.
♥ The future. Last week wasn’t very exciting for me to be honest. I felt a little down and lost, which happens pretty regularly for me and my unsettled life! But I started thinking about the rest of this year and what I want to do. I looked at flights to Europe and started to write down ALL of the places I really want to see. There are too many, but I will definitely try my best to see as much as possible! Right now I am thinking of leaving Vancouver and heading to the UK and Europe in September or October, and then going home in December. Things can always change, but this is where my head is at right now.
♥ New post. The latest from Hayley on Holiday is a post from Portland, and the 10 reasons why I love that city so much. I mean I could have kept on going, but I thought those 10 covered all of the main reasons why Portland is a must-visit city in the United States. Up next is my solo travel guide to Maui, where I discuss just how difficult I found travelling solo there.
♥ Eats. I returned to two places last week. First up was tacos at Sal y Limon again, which are delicious for the price. But I haven’t found a taco to beat the fish beauty at Tacofino. Next I went out for a solo Sunday brunch to The Gray Olive Cafeteria, which I mentioned last week. It’s only two blocks from my house and my friend’s chicken and waffles were so good, I had to have them. I will wait at least a week before returning again, I promise ;)
♥ Music. I’ve been listening to a lot of country music lately, which is weird for me. It’s just easy to listen to when I’m writing. On Spotify I’ve also been listening to the New Pop Sounds playlist. It has the usual pop artists, but some different indie pop musicians I haven’t heard of before too.
♥ Coworking. I feel like it’s been a while since I mentioned coworking here. I’ve been heading into the space at least twice a week and I only focus on my writing there. It’s been really worthwhile for me as I am a lot more productive. I also like being able to leave The Culture Trip work there and come home and focus on other things, like this blog.
♥ Books. My 19th book of the year was Eligible, which I actually really enjoyed. It was like Pride and Prejudice meets the Bachelor, but the varying storylines kept me entertained. It’s a great summer beach read. Next up is a Sliding Doors-type novel.
♥ TV. I was SO pumped this week to find out Blindspot got renewed for another season. That show is excellent if you like cops/mysteries/drama. I was also bummed when I learned Timeless was cancelled, for the network to backflip and renew it a few days later. My friend also finished 13 Reasons Why, in record time, so there was a lot of talk about that and what we think will happen in season 2. I’m now currently catching up on Madam Secretary. I do love the show but I am about 10 episodes behind. Oops.
This week I’m working and catching up with my globetrotting friend, Beth, who I also saw in Hawaii and LA!
