In an effort to blog more, I wanted to breakdown my monthly Hayley Lately posts into weekly segments. Each week I will share some happy moments: what I’ve been blogging, reading, watching and doing in beautiful Vancouver. Let’s just call it my weekly gratitude journal.
♥ Holiday prep: Seriously, nothing makes me happier than prepping for a holiday. Except maybe actually going on said holiday. But my Hawaii accommodation has been booked and I have some awesome activities organised, which I can’t wait to share with you. Spoiler alert: February happens to be the prime month for whale watching on Maui (yessss!).
♥ The new job: This week has been all about writing. I think it is going to take awhile to get into a rhythm with my new job, but so far I am really enjoying the work. But I have also realised I am a bad procrastinator, who needs to work on one project at a time. I am going to check out a coworking space in Vancouver this week, as I think going into an office is the motivation I need.
♥ Year of Yes: I finished reading Shonda Rhimes’ book, Year of Yes this week. I really enjoyed it (seriously, give me all your non-fiction book recommendations because I have been devouring them lately). What I liked most was her complete and utter honesty. It was so interesting for me to see what goes in to making some of my favourite TV shows. I also found the way she spoke about the character, Cristina Yang to be fascinating. Highly recommend if you are a fellow TGIT addict.
♥ Golden hour: It is meant to be raining this week, so I have been enjoying the sunshine break we have had. I went for a walk last week just before sunset and the golden colour of the mountains and hilltop houses was just beautiful. I may live outside of the city centre, but the views around my neighbourhood make up for the longer commute.
♥ New posts: I managed to publish two blog posts last week. The first was a glimpse into my favourite freelance writing job boards. And post number two was about why you should move to Vancouver.
♥ Prize time: I majorly stepped out of my comfort zone to attend my work’s staff party on Wednesday. There were a lot of people there and I new basically no one, but it turns out after I left there was a prize draw and I won two tickets to a hockey game next month. Even though the team isn’t doing very well, it will be cool to finally see an actual NHL game, just once.
♥ Bones: I have been catching up on Seasons 10 and 11 of Bones and I am nearing the finish line. Season 12 was just released and it is the final season, so I had to watch it until the end. It’s what I do.
♥ New toy: I splurged just a little bit this week and bought myself a new camera: the Sony Alpha A5000. I found one discounted online at Best Buy so snapped it up. I wanted a camera that I could easily carry with me and one with Wi-Fi connectivity. If the weather cooperates I’ll take some tests shots once it arrives next week and put them in the following Hayley Lately post.
All I have planned this week is working at three different jobs, but hopefully some fun makes its way into my schedule.
