Life
March was the month of execution: I booked my plane ticket to Melbourne and then from Melbourne to the Sunshine Coast in May for my cousin’s wedding, who I happened to live with in Brisbane. I am excited for these future plans and to live in and explore a new city. Although island life has been good to me, I am ready for a new adventure and different surroundings. Here is a look at the blog posts I wrote and read in March.
Posts
The 10 Best Vancouver Day Trips: Seeing as I had finished posting about the many wonderful day trips I had done while living in Vancouver, I thought compiling them in one place would be beneficial. Although, just staying in Van is pretty beautiful, too.
Two Days in Banff Surrounded by Aussies: Yeah, there were lots of my fellow Australians in Banff. But I couldn’t blame them for living there, because Banff’s scenery was unreal. Please, check out the photos and see if you can disagree.
My Hometown is Growing Up: A post about my hometown of Townsville, Queensland and the fact it has grown up immensely in the three years since I left. Although I won’t be moving home any time soon, it’s nice to see it continuously improve and get better.
24 Sweet Hours in Charleston, SC: Charleston was so sweet! From its sweet tea and frozen custards to its pies, I overdosed during my visit and loved every second of it. I also did other stuff while I was in the city, in case you were wondering.
Why I am Moving to Melbourne: A little post about why I am excited to move to Melbourne this month! I got such great feedback on this post through the comments and Facebook, so thank you for reading.
A Budget-Friendly Weekend in Washington, DC: I really enjoyed my cheap weekend in DC, and not just because it was nice to my budget. The United States capital is overflowing with history and I soaked it all up.
Street art in Townsville. It’s getting more hipster by the day.

51 Things to do in Melbourne | Little Grey Box: I only recently discovered Phoebe’s blog but I have so far really enjoyed her interesting posts and honest writing. Obviously this list was instantly bookmarked for when I get to Melbourne as it is saturated with good ideas.
All the Things I’ll Miss from Living on Bondi Beach | Frugal Frolicker: These photos from Lindsay are amazing — just look at the blues of the ocean. I haven’t actually been to Bondi Beach (I know, I am once again a bad Australian) but I need to get there sometime soon. Checking out the lifeguards and surfers wouldn’t be so bad either.
The Honest Guide to Making Money as a Freelance Writer/Blogger | The Pin the Map Project: This post by Nikki was really informative for me as I too am currently trying to build my freelance writing portfolio. I found her links really helpful and will definitely be putting them to use.
15 Scenic Sights That Will Make You Want to Visit the Outer Hebrides | Stories My Suitcase Could Tell: I was really surprised by Katie’s photos of her home in Scotland. I mean, some of them looked like Scotland, but then you see this amazing looking water and to me, this is not the image that instantly comes to mind when thinking of the country.
Aren’t koalas the cutest?

I have continued to work on my freelance writing in March, with two more stories published and a further copywriting project. My goal in Melbourne is to write part-time and work somewhere else part-time (to be determined).
14 Signs you were Born and Raised in Tropical North Queensland | Matador Network: To be published on Matador Network is a big coup for me, as it is such a reputable travel website. This is a funny look at what it was like growing up in Townsville.
| Travelettes: A favourite website of mine, I wrote a guide to the best Brisbane suburbs and collaborated with Kristin from A Boots and a Backpack — her photos are fantastic, as per usual.
Tell me your biggest achievement in March. Talk to you from Melbourne!
