Welcome back to Hayley Lately. Each Monday, this is where I share some happy moments from the previous week: what I’ve blogged, read, watched and done in beautiful Vancouver.
♥ Birthday celebrations. It’s officially my birthday in Canada today, but I like to think I have two birthdays when I’m overseas. Last night my friends and I went out for tacos at my favourite place, and then for drinks and dessert at Steamworks. The server was super sweet and gave me a free ice-cream cake, complete with a candle. Today involves a movie date and then maybe dessert again. I say you can never have too much chocolate on your birthday!
♥ Books. I finished an Australian book this week, called The Dry. It’s about an apparent murder-suicide of a young family in rural Victoria. It was a little different from the chick lit I usually read, but I enjoyed it. I think it’s good for an Australian audience, as I could imagine the small town setting.
♥ Chop Chop. I got my haircut this week and it’s most definitely the shortest I’ve had it in awhile. So far I’m digging it and finding it easy to style. Hooray!
♥ Hawaii. My first Hawaii post went live last week. It features 20 of my favourite photos from Oahu and Maui. More in-depth guides coming soon!
♥ Red Wagon. Oh yes, we did go back to my favourite brunch spot last week. I noticed the prices had risen a couple of dollars since our last visit, but it was probably time. Fortunately, the quality is still just as good.
♥ Canucks. I started my birthday weekend on Saturday, when my friend and I went to a Vancouver Canucks ice hockey game. I won the tickets through my work’s Christmas party and the seats were fantastic. Even though they lost I had a really great night and actually enjoyed watching the game.
♥ Co-working. Since I started my part-time writing position last month, I’ve struggled with being productive. I get the work done, but in patches here and there. So I’m signing up this week at a co-working space and I’m going to dedicate some set hours each week to go there and work hard on just this project. I’ll update you soon on whether it works for me!
♥ Big Little Lies. I mentioned this show last week, and I just wanted to say I really enjoyed the pilot. Reese Witherspoon is phenomenal. It’s a little bit of a different role for her, but she nails it.
This week I am working, co-working, tubing and dancing. Should be a lot of fun!
