Welcome back to Hayley Lately. Each month, this is where I chat about my life and what I’ve been up to. Keep reading to discover the book I couldn’t put down, my new favourite show and the best things I ate this month #priorities.
Life Lately
After reading back through November’s Hayley Lately post, it’s safe to say that December was a relatively quiet month for me. I moved into my new place, a one-bedroom apartment smack bang in the middle of Townsville. It’s been fun setting it up and decorating. I also have to admit that after living with housemates for almost a decade, I LOVE that the space is all mine 😆.

December was spent applying for jobs, working on this blog (I would be incredibly bored without it), Christmas shopping and Christmas movie watching. I celebrated Christmas with my family over on Magnetic Island and it was a very relaxing day. As for New Year’s Eve, I’ve never been one for big celebrations. So I just rang in the New Year (and decade) in my new place.

Eating Lately
I haven’t had a lot of stand out meals in December. But I do need to make an effort to try new places now I’m settling back into life in Townsville. Christmas is basically the only time of year I bake as well, so I’ve been in the kitchen more than usual, making multiple batches of yum yum balls and white Christmas.
Blogging Lately
Some of the blog posts I’ve published this month include an updated gift guide, a review of my Greek island day trip from Athens, all of the fun things to do in Melbourne, my guide to all things Amed (finally) and a round-up of my favourite destinations of 2019.

Any excuse to drop in a photo of Hallstatt…
Reading Lately
One of the best books I read this month was an advanced copy of The Two Lives of Lydia Bird, which will be released next year. I loved the author, Josie Silver’s, first novel, One Day in December. I also re-joined the library, a total highlight of my month 😂. I’m currently working my way through the pile below, but Make or Break was a cute romance novel set in both London and Cape Town.
Watching Lately
Let’s be honest, I’ve probably spent too much time in front of the TV this month. Firstly, I watched the first seasons of two new shows on Netflix: Virgin River and Merry Happy Whatever. I then caught up on 9-1-1 – the cast makes the show. I’ve also watched a lot of Hallmark and Lifestyle Christmas movies – a total guilty pleasure!
That’s a wrap on December. I hope you all had a great NYE and start to 2020. I’ll see you next month!
