I love the west side of the United States. From Seattle to San Diego, and inland to Salt Lake City, this part of America has a lot to offer visitors. There are desert landscapes, beautiful beaches, snowy mountains, and so much more. Choose one of these five places for your next visit to the western U.S., and you are guaranteed to have an adventure.
Grand Canyon, Arizona
Ah, Grand Canyon National Park. I visited the Canyon on a very long day trip from Las Vegas, but I would have loved to stay in the park longer. That way, you can explore different parts of the National Park every day. So, where to stay in the Grand Canyon? There are a couple of options near Grand Canyon Village, which means visitors are close to the South Rim. Accommodations are also available near both Mather and Hopi Points; these include Maswik Lodge, and Yavapai Lodge.

Bellingham is in a perfect location in Washington State. I passed through the city a few times between trips from Vancouver to the West Coast. It is very convenient for exploring both Washington and Canada. Plus, it has an international airport, and it is home to Bellis Fair, an excellent shopping outlet centre. To stay right near both of these places, choose Springhill Suites by Marriott. Guests can access the free shuttle to the airport, and the outlets are within walking distance. Facilities include an indoor pool, bar and restaurant, fitness centre, and in-room refrigerators.
Rapid City, South Dakota
Famous for its neighbouring national parks, Rapid City is the second-largest city in South Dakota. It is a great place to base yourself for exploring both Mount Rushmore and Badlands National Park. While in town you can also visit the Black Hills National Forest, and you can learn about Rapid City on the city trolley tour. Grand Gateway Hotel has something to offer everyone, from business to leisure travellers: pet-friendly rooms, an onsite convenience store, a 24-hour restaurant, and plenty of event and conference space.
Located on the eastern side of Kauai, Kapaa is a small township. It is a great place to stay and see all Kauai has to offer. Kapa’a is home to Kinipopo Shopping Village, Wailua Shopping Plaza, and Coconut Marketplace. Its most famous beach is called Coconut Beach. Waipouli Beach Resort & Spa is an Outrigger resort, featuring beachfront condos, spa facilities, and a two acre swimming pool with its own waterfall and waterslide!
Renton is on the southern outskirts of Seattle in Washington State. It is in a good location for nature lovers; Renton straddles Lake Washington, and Cedar River flows through the city. It has its own airport, but King County International Airport is only a short drive away. Red Lion Hotel is a great accommodation option in Renton, as it offers a free airport shuttle, and is close to all of the city’s attractions. The hotel also has an onsite conference centre and a 24-hour business centre.
Where will you visit the next time you escape to the west side of the United States? It obviously has a lot to offer to everyone.
