Best Food in Da Nang: 20+ Great Restaurants & Cafes

This post may contain affiliate links. For more information, please read the full disclosure policy here.

After three food-filled weeks, here’s my guide to the best food in Da Nang, Vietnam.

From traditional Vietnamese dishes and street food to vegan-friendly cafes and Western comfort meals, there’s no shortage of great places to eat in Da Nang. I had a blast eating my way around the central Vietnamese city (predominantly in the My An area), and my bank balance approved of the affordable experience, too 😉. Alright, let’s get into the best food in Da Nang! I’ve broken it down into categories to make life easier.

Da Nang travel tips

Before we get started, here are some quick Da Nang travel tips:

  • From airport transfers to visiting attractions and food deliveries, Grab was my go-to.
  • I stayed at Samatha Apartment & Hotel and would recommend it without hesitation. Run by a lovely local family, they have a range of rooms, and I stayed in a spacious studio with a desk, dining table, kitchenette, and large bathroom. There’s also a rooftop pool with sweeping ocean views, and you can walk there yourself in five minutes.
  • I picked up a local SIM card in Hanoi, but another option is an eSIM, such as Sim Local. Click the link for 10% off using the code HOLIDAY10.
  • I used a combination of card and cash. Cash was best for markets and local stalls, while several restaurants and cafes accepted cards.
  • Pack hand sanitiser and get in the habit of using it before every meal. Combined with having a daily probiotic, I swear this is what kept my stomach happy for six months in Southeast Asia 😅.
  • Don’t drink the tap water. My accommodation had massive water containers for a few dollars, but you can buy something similar at grocery stores.

Best Shopping in Sanur, Bali: 15+ Amazing Shops

  • Mì quảng: The most famous food in Da Nang, mi quang includes turmeric-infused noodles served with pork, shrimp, herbs, and rice crackers. But it’s the flavorful broth that keeps people coming back for more.
  • Bánh xèo (Vietnamese pancake): Crispy rice flour crepes filled with shrimp, pork, and bean sprouts. The pancakes are usually served with rice paper and fresh herbs, then wrapped and dipped in peanut sauce. YUM.
  • Bánh tráng cuốn thịt heo: Thinly sliced, boiled pork belly rolled in rice paper with fresh herbs and vegetables, served with a fish sauce.
  • Bún chả cá (fish cake noodle soup): Popular in central Vietnam, bun cha ca includes vermicelli noodles with broth and fried or steamed fish cakes.
  • Gỏi cá nam o: Not my cup of tea, but this is a salad with raw fish marinated in spices, lime, and chili, and served with rice crackers.
  • Nem lụi: Grilled lemongrass pork skewers, which are often eaten with banh xeo.
  • Bún thịt nướng: A personal favourite, this includes vermicelli noodles and fresh vegetables served with grilled pork and spring rolls. (Fun fact: It’s known as bun cha in Hanoi).
  • Pho: The noodle soup that needs no introduction, but you’ll find it on most menus in Da Nang.
  • Spring rolls: Feast on both fresh and fried spring rolls in Vietnam.

Best local restaurants in Da Nang

Let’s start with the best restaurants in Da Nang, Vietnam.

Chicken fried rice from Hanh & Ken in Da Nang, Vietnam

1. Hahn & Ken

Hahn & Ken is a casual, local spot that’s perfect when you want affordable and authentic Vietnamese street food. I can recommend the fried chicken rice, but everything on the menu looks delicious.

Seafood noodles in Da Nang, Vietnam

2. ĐÀ THÀNH QUÁN

Da Nang is famous for its seafood and live tank-to-table dining. I wanted seafood, but affordable seafood, so I checked out this local seafood restaurant with rave reviews on Google. I opted for noodles with seafood and I wasn’t disappointed. Just look at the selection and amount of freshly cooked seafood in the dish!

Shrimp noodles and spring rolls from Thia Go Restaurant and Da Nang, Vietnam

3. Thìa Gỗ Restaurant

Thìa Go is an award-winner and perhaps the best Vietnamese restaurant in Da Nang. It’s elevated Vietnamese dining, but you’ll find all your local favourites here. You can’t miss the pho, though I had the shrimp noodles and spring rolls delivered. What a spread!

Best food markets in Da Nang

I love a market, so here are a few Da Nang food markets worth visiting.

Traditional Vietnamese dinner at Son Tra Night Market in Da Nang, Vietnam

4. Son Tra Night Market

Son Tra Night Market is a lively (if chaotic) place to eat street food in Da Nang. Just be prepared for the stall owners to be a little pushy in getting you to eat their food. But you’re pretty much guaranteed to have a great local meal. Look at my spread of grilled skewers, spring rolls, and banh xeo, with a $1 sugarcane juice that was bigger than my head!

5. Han Market

Han Market (Cho Han) is one of Da Nang’s most popular attractions. It’s a multi-level indoor shopping centre with stalls selling everything from clothing to fresh produce, ingredients, and snacks. Head here to try some traditional Vietnamese snacks.

6. An Thuong Night Market

It was a happy accident that I walked through An Thuong Night Market after dinner. It’s open nightly, and you’ll find fresh seafood and street food stalls, next to souvenirs and accessories. I couldn’t say no to the rolled ice cream, and you know I went back multiple times!

7. Con Market

I didn’t make it to Con Market (Cho Con), but from what I’ve heard, it’s similar to Han Market. It includes thousands of stalls selling local produce, souvenirs, homewares, and most importantly, street food.

Best banh mi in Da Nang

Looking for the best places to eat in Da Nang with the most delicious banh mi? Well, I became obsessed, so step this way!

8. Ùmm Banh Mi & Cafe

Umm Banh Mi offers traditional banh mi flavours, but also has what it calls fusion banh mi. I am firmly team chicken teriyaki, but you can choose options like egg and bacon or ham and cheese omelette. Enjoy your banh mi with a traditional Vietnamese coffee or a sweet blended drink to cool off.

9. Kebab Ngon

I know it says kebab in the name, but you have to trust me on this recommendation. Kebab Ngon has a chicken teriyaki banh mi that’s incredibly delicious. Just down the road from my accommodation, I was a repeat customer as it was the perfect, cheap yet filling meal. Kebab Ngon also offers shawarma, kebab plates, paninis, and French tacos.

10. 2 Ladies Kitchen

2 Ladies Kitchen specialises in authentic Vietnamese banh mi and coffee. What sets this cafe apart is that it specifically hires deaf and hard-of-hearing staff, so the team asks you to write your order on paper. But what gets delivered is banh mi on freshly baked baguettes, packed with flavour.

You can also grab a cheap banh mi from one of the many food carts dotted around Da Nang. However, I personally skip carts because I don’t have a stomach of steel 😅.

Best vegan and vegetarian food in Da Nang

Even if you eat meat, these vegan restaurants in Da Nang are worth visiting.

11. Loving Vegan

Loving Vegan is a standout for plant-based food in Da Nang. I promise that even non-vegans like myself won’t miss the meat and will enjoy how hearty and satisfying the dishes are. They have all bases covered: appetisers, sandwiches and burritos, soups, salads, noodles, and rice dishes. I recommend trying the Loving Vegan noodles, made with plant protein patties, and the teriyaki tofu rice. Look at those portion sizes for just a couple of dollars! You won’t be disappointed.

12. Chickpea Eatery

Chickpea Eatery is so passionate about vegan Vietnamese cuisine that it hosts cooking classes. But you can also stop by Mom’s Kitchen in Da Nang for an affordable vegan meal. Think tempeh banh mi, bao buns, noodles, or a protein burger.

13. Roots Plant-Based Cafe

Roots Plant-Based Cafe is a 100% vegan restaurant in Da Nang. The space is bright, and the food range is both vast and (nearly) too pretty to eat. Take your pick from eclectic toast toppings, filling burgers, acai bowls, and hearty soups. I also strongly encourage you to take away one of their vegan desserts!

If you’re looking for more suggestions, I actually got these recommendations before I visited from Justine at Travel Lush. She has a great guide to Da Nang vegan restaurants.

Best Western and international food in Da Nang

Sometimes you need a noodle break, and these Da Nang restaurants hit the spot.

Pizza from Olivia Pizza in Da Nang, Vietnam

14. Olivia Pizza

Olivia Pizza is one of the best places in Da Nang when you need an authentic pizza hit. Look at this BBQ chicken bad boy! Thick crust, ample toppings, and sizes from small to large? Yes, please.

Burger from Roadhouse Burgers in Da Nang, Vietnam

15. Roadhouse Burgers

So you want a food coma? Head to Roadhouse Burgers. The menu gives American diner vibes, with stacked burgers, pizza, and loaded fries. It’s something a little different (and a little pricier).

Hot tip: Other popular burger spots I didn’t get to are Bikini Bottom and Burger Bros.

Burrito from Tacos Danang in Da Nang, Vietnam

16. Tacos Danang

If you know me, you know I can’t resist Mexican food. Tacos Danang hits the spot if you’ve got a burrito craving while in Vietnam. The space is bright and welcoming, the staff are friendly, and the burrito portion sizes are clearly generous.

Best bakeries in Da Nang

The only thing I might love more than Mexican food is pastries 😂. So you bet I found the best bakeries in Da Nang!

Sign leading into Jeremy's Kitchen in Da Nang, Vietnam

17. Jeremy’s Kitchen

Jeremy’s Kitchen is a light, airy cafe tucked down a side street, owned by an American expat. While I walked away with an insane cinnamon roll, its cabinets are positively packed with freshly baked cake and pastries. It also offers epic sandwiches on house-made bread, including a bologna sandwich and a spicy honey-butter chicken biscuit. Yep, add this to your list.

18. Tian Patisserie

Tian Patisserie has two locations in the An Thuong area. I happened to walk past one hungry morning and was pleasantly surprised by the sweet treats inside. The specialty is cheesecake, but I also see it has upgraded its dessert menu to include ice cream croissants. Please enjoy one for me!

Outside Paris Levain Bakery & Cafe in Da Nang, Vietnam

19. Paris Levain Bakery & Cafe

My top recommendation for the best bakery in Da Nang must be Paris Levain Bakery & Cafe. Whether you want freshly baked bread or rolls, sweet pastries, or even a birthday cake, they have you covered. I’m hungry just looking at that stacked cabinet!

20. Le Bordeaux

Le Bordeaux Bakery is another French-inspired bakery in Da Nang worth a visit. It offers a range of sweet treats, including cakes, croissants, cookies, tarts, and brownies. You can sit in or take away.

Hot tip: While walking around, keep your eyes peeled for carts selling fresh fruit juices and smoothies from $1. So good and refreshing in that Da Nang humidity!

Street lit up at night in Da Nang, Vietnam
That’s a wrap on the best food in Da Nang, Vietnam. Who’s hungry now?

Da Nang is evidently an easy city to eat well in, no matter your budget or dietary preferences. From local street food and banh mi spots to vegan restaurants and Western comfort food, there’s plenty of variety to keep every meal interesting. If you’re planning where to eat in Da Nang, these restaurants offer a mix of flavour, value, and atmosphere that’s well worth checking out.
