Welcome back to Hayley Lately. Each Monday, this is where I share some happy moments from the previous week: what I’ve blogged, read, watched and done in beautiful Vancouver.
♥ The Fair at the PNE. I’ve had a busy past few days, which began on Thursday when my friend invited me to the Fair at the PNE. I’ve been to the Fair every year I’ve been in Vancouver (four times and counting). We had a fun night snacking on all the food, going on a few of my favourite rides and watching the magic show. I blogged about my night less than 24 hours afterwards (quickest turnaround ever!). Here’s the post about why I love the Fair.
♥ Reading. I finished another JoJo Moyes book last week: One Plus One. It’s a bit more family-oriented than most chick lit books, which I enjoyed. I’ve read quite a few of Moyes’ books now. She’s a fantastic romance writer, if that’s your thing.
I am also starting to buy a few books to add to my Kindle for my big adventure. So far I’ve purchased the two new books in Sarah J Maas’ two YA fantasy series. She is AMAZING. If you have any suggestions, send them my way!
♥ Adventuring. On Saturday night my friend and I hung out, which was a lot of fun. We first went to Metrotown and I didn’t even realise the shops are open to 9pm on Saturdays. This totally doesn’t happen in Australia so I was slightly amazed at the amount of people hanging out at the shops on a Saturday night.
We then went across to Trattoria for dinner. Our server was awesome and showed us a photo of her husband with Lionel Richie. He flies the seaplanes to Vancouver Island and Lionel went there before his concert last night (which I also worked). This was my second visit to the restaurant and I just love it. They cook their pizzas in a wood-fired oven and they’re both a reasonable price and size. You can read about my first visit here.
We finished the night at Rain or Shine ice cream. The best part about this shop is that you can get a single scoop, but two flavours, for $5. I loved their malted milk chocolate honeycomb flavour.
♥ Writing. Two of my favourite stories from last week included the best things to do in Canada in your twenties. Lots of road trips, festivals and city visits included. I also wrote about what to do on a Vancouver layover.
♥ Decluttering. Organisation might be my favourite thing (besides travel). Decluttering just leaves me feeling so content and accomplished. I went through everything I own and started sorting things into the Europe pile – home pile – and donation pile. My room has never looked so good.
♥ Summer sunsets. It’s definitely still summer in Vancouver and I am not complaining! We have a few days this week where it’s meant to get over 30 degrees. There are many things I love about summer in Vancouver, but these sunsets might be the best. I captured this view on a work break at the Shipyard Night Markets in North Vancouver.
♥ Watching. I actually didn’t watch a lot last week. I caught up on season six of Suits, so will start season seven soon. I also watched the first two episodes of the Australian TV series, The Wrong Girl. I honestly haven’t laughed so hard at a TV show in SO long. Firstly, the cast is spot on. Secondly, it’s filmed in Melbourne and makes me nostalgic. They even filmed outside my old apartment in the second episode. Do yourself a favour and check it out.
♥ Future Adventuring. I have a busy work week this week, but next weekend my friend and I are heading to Vancouver Island. We’re leaving early Friday and returning late Saturday, because I have my last shift at the arena on Sunday. I am so excited to finally see the island for myself and to have a friend to adventure with.
