Welcome back to Hayley Lately. Each Monday, this is where I share some happy moments from the previous week: what I’ve blogged, read, watched and done in beautiful Vancouver.
♥ The BIG news. Last week was pretty uneventful, except for one HUGE piece of news. I finally booked flights for my next adventure, which you’re hearing about here first! On 28th September, I will be flying direct from Vancouver to London. So far I have ideas that include maybe doing a tour of the UK and Ireland, visiting family in England, and then hopping around Europe solo! I want to visit Paris, Budapest, Copenhagen, the German Christmas Markets… my list of places and things to do is insane, basically.
I will be flying from London to Singapore on the 6/7th December, where I will spend a few days because it’s been on my bucket list for quite a while. Then, when I was looking at flights home to Townsville, I got an awesome deal going from Singapore – Denpasar – Townsville. So I will also get to visit my favourite place for a couple of days before finally heading home to Magnetic Island for Christmas (and to sweat my butt off). I am pretty pumped to get back to Europe. It’s been 10 years (I’m SO old) since my first solo trip around the continent.
After that? I will hopefully be returning to Melbourne sometime in the new year. I don’t regret coming back to Vancouver this year, but it ultimately made me realise that Australia is home. I will write more in-depth about this soon!
♥ Reading. I finished The Nest this week, which followed the stories of the four elder Plumb siblings. It was a solid book with some interesting storylines, and I did enjoy the ending. However, the middle seemed to be just misery and disappointment and trouble all around, and I would have liked a little more upbeatness mixed in. Books don’t have to be all doom and gloom, you know?
♥ Writing. On The Culture Trip, I wrote about the best places to see the Northern Lights in Canada. It turns out, you don’t have to head to go totally remote to see them in winter. I also wrote about the best day trips from Calgary.
♥ Blogging. My latest post on Hayley on Holiday is all about Airbnb, and why I recommend using it when travelling. There’s also a discount code inside, which you can use to get money off our first stay!
♥ Watching. To be honest, I didn’t really watch anything new. I did finally finished Pretty Little Liars, which I mentioned last week (totally read the spoilers). I am making my way through season 4 of Switched at Birth too, so will undoubtedly be finished the series soon! It’s a great, easy-watching family show.
♥ Helping. If you guys have any recommendations on places to visit, places to eat, things to do in the UK/Europe/Singapore, I’d love if you would let me know your suggestions in the comments! I’m currently compiling a bit of a Google Doc to chart my path ;)
My diary is looking pretty blank so far for the week ahead! But at least there’s beautiful weather to look forward to.

Exciting! Is Scotland on your list? I hope it is ;)

Scotland and Ireland are the two countries I HAVE to visit. I’m still deciding whether to do a tour of them or not (like Contiki). Can I ask your thoughts? I want to see as much as possible, but I don’t feel super comfortable driving myself, and wouldn’t mind meeting people.

Glad to hear that – they’re two of my favourite countries! Yeah, you’ll definitely be limited if you’re not driving, so a tour is probably your best option! I haven’t tried Contiki, but I have done shorter multi-day trips around Scotland with a local company called Haggis Adventures, which I’d recommend :)
