Welcome back to Hayley Lately. Each Monday, this is where I share some happy moments from the previous week: what I’ve blogged, read, watched and done in beautiful Vancouver.
♥ Adventuring. Last week was a good mixture of work and play. My friend and I headed out to Richmond on Wednesday. We visited a Flight Path Park, which is as cool as it sounds. It’s a park with a mini runway and paper plane-shaped seats, where you can watch planes take off and land. We then went to Steveston, which is such a cute village. Anna Faris is currently filming a remake there of the Goldie Hawn/Kurt Russell film, Overboard. We just saw them setting up though :(
My other adventure for the week was clubbing on Saturday night. I’m not that much of a party animal, but I do like to dance! The music was a bit of a letdown though.
♥ Blogging. The newest post on Hayley on Holiday is my favourite books to read on your holiday this year. I haven’t actually started this week’s post yet, so I better stop procrastinating!
♥ Photographing. I made a mini investment today in some new Lightroom presets. I enjoy editing my photos, but I wanted some more travel-focused presets to kind of take my photos to the next level. The photo above from Steveston was edited with my new presets by Salt in our Hair. I also posted this photo on Instagram today, which shows how vibrant some of the presets are. I’m excited to get editing (such a nerd, I realise).
♥ Eating. Last week’s eats included revisiting my favourite brunch spot, Red Wagon. It had been awhile! My friends and I also tried Memphis Blues BBQ House, which I had heard good things about. We shared a massive platter and it was good, but I thought some of the meat was a little dry. I think I just had high expectations that weren’t met. Their chips seasoning was the bomb, though.
Speaking of food, this is currently cooking in my slow cooker: Mexican Chicken Bowls. In case you didn’t know I was obsessed with Mexican food.
♥ Reading. Hey, I actually finished one book last night! I also added two more to my crazy stack next to my bed. I am slightly afraid it might topple onto me while I sleep. Anyway, I finished the third in the Red Queen series, King’s Cage. It had been awhile between the books for me, but I quickly picked up where the story finished. I quite enjoyed this book. Much more than the second in fact. There is set to be a final book next year, which I am most definitely looking forward to.
♥ Writing. One of the stories I got published last week that was really hard to research (not!): 12 Beautiful Islands in Canada.
♥ Watching. I’ve basically just watched Switched at Birth this week. But one of my favourite movies from last year, The Edge of Seventeen, is now out on Netflix. It’s hilarious, filmed in Vancouver, and I highly recommend it.
I don’t have a lot planned this week. But all of my fun adventures last week were spontaneous, so check in next week to see what I get up to!
