Welcome back to Hayley Lately. Each Monday, this is where I share some happy moments from the previous week: what I’ve blogged, read, watched and done in beautiful Vancouver.
♥ Holidays: You know this was going to take the number one spot this week! My trip to Hawaii was exactly what I needed. It gave me a break from the everyday, allowed me to explore new destinations, and the sun and I bonded again. Expect a lot of Hawaii content over the next few weeks, including some of my favourite photos later this week.
♥ Highlights: A little glimpse into the best of Hawaii: Waikiki sunsets, seeing a lot of Oahu in one day, swimming in the ocean for the first time in over a year, staying in Lahaina on Maui, surviving the Road to Hana and seeing many humpback whales.
♥ Books: I feel like I’m the only person who goes on holiday and reads less than usual. I think it’s because I read the most in the evening, which is difficult when staying in a hostel. Alas, I only finished one book this fortnight: The Hypnotist’s Love Story. It was by Australian author Liane Moriarty and it was the perfect beach read. It follows a hypnotist and her new boyfriend whose ex-girlfriend is stalking him. What Alice Forgot is still my favourite Moriarty novel, though. Find me on Goodreads here.
♥ Big Little Lies: Speaking of Moriarty, her bestselling novel Big Little Lies was turned into a TV series featuring some big names. We’re talking Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman and Alexander Skarsgård. The premiere was last night, so I’ll be watching that tonight for sure!
♥ New camera: I decided to just travel with my new camera, the Sony A5000 to Hawaii. It is so light compared to a DSLR but the photo quality is still fantastic. You can capture images in RAW, interchange the lenses and use manual settings. Here is a little sunset shot snapped on the Sony.
♥ Birthday weekend: I am very much looking forward to this weekend. Saturday night I won tickets to an ice hockey game through work, so I’ll be going to cheer on the Canucks. Sunday night is dinner and drinks with friends and then Monday is my birthday! Flashback to last year’s birthday celebrations.

Good read Hales and great photos BUT then I clicked on your ” last year birthday celebrations in Bali” can’t believe that was a year ago, what a fabulous week with the beautiful Balinese ??
I know, a lot has happened since then! :)
