Welcome back to Hayley Lately. Each Monday, this is where I share some happy moments from the previous week: what I’ve blogged, read, watched and done in beautiful Vancouver.
♥ Portland. Last Monday I visited my favourite bookstore in the whole world, had some lunch and then walked in the rain to catch my train from Portland to Vancouver. It takes the same amount of time as the bus, but the train is a lot more comfortable. We also got pretty waterside views along the way; I could walk down the carriages to grab something for dinner; and you only have to deal with immigration at the end.
♥ Pie Season. I basically got back from holiday and worked all week. The food truck is definitely picking up, thanks to “summer” markets and events (I wish we had summer weather too). I also got to hear John Mayer and LANY perform at Rogers Arena while I worked, and he was very much into doing guitar solos.
♥ New post. I published one post last week, about my ride to Vancouver airport in style. It was a lot of fun and the perfect start to our week away in LA.
♥ Books. I did get another book finished this week, which means I’m still on track to complete 50 books in 2017. The Futures is about a young couple navigating their way through New York City and their first real jobs after graduating from Yale. I did like the writing, but in the middle the protagonists got on my nerves. I just couldn’t empathise with either of them, which is totally irritating from a reader’s perspective.
♥ Eats. You know, between work and arriving home from holidays, I haven’t actually been out to try any new eats. However, I did try Kaboom Box’s venison burger while I was working at the markets on Saturday, and it was delicious!
♥ New toys. I’ve been using a fitbit for nearly 18 months now, but my Charge HR had fallen apart once (though I got a new one under warranty), and my replacement was actually being held together by tape. So I upgraded to the new Alta HR and I’m basically in love. Its slimmer design looks a lot more appealing than the bulkiness of the Charge. They really are worthwhile to track steps, exercise and sleep. I also love the silent alarm in the morning. I honestly don’t know what I’d do without it now!
♥ Watching. I’m still making my way through 13 Reasons Why, but I find the show a little too serious for me to just binge watch it. I also started watching Girlboss, which is Netflix’s latest series. The episodes are short and funny, so it’s basically the opposite of 13 Reasons Why.
This week I’m working, writing and hanging out with friends!
