Welcome back to Hayley Lately. Each Monday, this is where I share some happy moments from the previous week: what I’ve blogged, read, watched and done in beautiful Vancouver.
♥ Saying goodbye. My time in Vancouver is rapidly winding down. I thought I’d spend a bit more time enjoying the city before I leave, but I’ve been too busy sorting out my suitcases and writing stories! The thing is, I know I will return one day, so this isn’t a final farewell.
I had a small goodbye party during trivia night at The Lamplighter. It was a fun farewell with the people I’ve been fortunate to meet here. I feel pretty lucky to have close friends all over the world.
♥ Blogging. Hallelujah, I published a new blog post! It took me forever to edit my Vancouver Island photos, but I just took so many good shots. Victoria is one photogenic place. Anyway, I wrote my 24-hour guide to Victoria, to help others who might be short on time in BC’s capital.
♥ Cheering. I am very proud of my team, the North Queensland Cowboys, for making the grand final! Now I just have to figure out if I can watch it in England.
♥ Reading. I finished Sophie Kinsella’s My Not So Perfect Life last week. To be honest, it wasn’t my favourite chick lit novel. I found her writing to be very cliché, which made the protagonist very annoying a lot of the time. I much prefer the romance writing style of Liane Moriarty or JoJo Moyes.
♥ Falling. The weather was all over the place last week. There was rain, cool mornings and falling leaves. But then this week it’s meant to reach 25 degrees again (on the day I leave, naturally). It can’t work out whether it’s summer or fall!
♥ Writing. I wrote a couple of really interesting posts: a guide to the Great Bear Rainforest and why you should visit the Wild Pacific Trail. Both are places I hadn’t heard about before writing for The Culture Trip.
♥ Brunching. My friend and I had our final brunch date at Red Wagon last Wednesday. It’s still one of my favourite brunch places in the city.
♥ Watching. I am still making my way through Designated Survivor, which has me hooked. But I also decided to give myself a break on Saturday night and watched The Intern. It has been on my list forever and I am so glad I finally watched it. What a fantastic movie and a fantastic cast.
♥ Leaving. Well, this is it. This Thursday I leave Vancouver and fly to London. 11 weeks of travel later and four continents later, I’ll be touching down in Townsville, ready for Christmas! I hope to keep these weekly updates going while I am travelling, but we shall see how we go!
