Welcome back to Hayley Lately. Each Monday, this is where I share some happy moments from the previous week: what I’ve blogged, read, watched and done in beautiful Vancouver.
♥ Adventuring. Last week’s weather was pretty damn amazing. We celebrated the first official day of summer by heading to Yaletown for lunch. We then followed this with another visit to Yaletown on Friday night, to celebrate my friend’s birthday. I hadn’t been back to Yaletown since I returned to Vancouver, so it was fun to visit twice in a week. The patios there are perfect for summer days.
I had a pretty slack week working-wise, but I did fit in some coworking days. I just got my schedule for July and I am working a lot of fun concerts, which I am excited for! We’re talking Ed Sheeran, Shawn Mendes, Bruno Mars, Counting Crows, Matchbox20 and QUEEEEEN! Oh, and Neil Diamond ;)
♥ Reading. Guys, my book stack is slowly dwindling. I finished Startup this week, which is a debut novel from Buzzfeed writer, Doree Shafrir. I just posted my review on Goodreads, but it was a strong book and very relevant. The only downside for me was too many main characters and not enough character development.
I also couldn’t sleep this morning, so naturally ended up completing another book. The Chemist by Stephenie Meyer (of Twilight fame) was surprisingly awesome! It started slowly, so I was unsure about it at first, but then the action started and I was hooked. The storyline was engaging and the characters were all very different.
♥ Eating. Last week’s eating adventures included a return to Cactus Club Cafe, which always serve quality meals. I tried the short rib sandwich and it was delicious! We followed this with dessert at Made by Mister, which are known for their nitrogen ice-cream. I had an incredible ice cream sandwich, but I am totally going back to try their s’mores flavour. It looks ridiculous.
Next up was dinner on Friday night at Yaletown Brewing Company. I heard some people weren’t too impressed with their meals, but I really enjoyed the pulled pork pizza. I recommend their wheat beer too. I also have to say, the pasta bake recipe I shared last week, was SO good.
♥ Blogging. I really enjoyed writing my latest post on the TV shows and movies that inspire my travels. But it’s so true, how I love watching some programs just because of the cinematography and scenery.
♥ Writing. I thought I’d share this post on Canada Day Weekend ideas, for other Vancouver locals. But I also had a lot of fun researching things Canada has given the world. You bet I included the Ryans (a.k.a Gosling and Reynolds).
This week involves a lot of FUN!

Steph’s Caesar Salad looked dismal and she wasn’t happy. Kevin also wasn’t in love with his burger and fries. Can’t remember what he had though…
