In an effort to blog more, I wanted to breakdown my monthly Hayley Lately posts into weekly segments. Each week I will share some happy moments: what I’ve been blogging, reading, watching and doing in beautiful Vancouver. Let’s just call it my weekly gratitude journal.
♥ Sorry: Okay, today’s Hayley Lately post is a day late. BUT in my defence, I have been working hard instead at the Vancouver Christmas Market. I will be working there up until New Year’s Eve. It is a German-inspired market and a must when visiting Vancouver during the holiday season.
♥ Visiting a favourite: When I worked at Starbucks, I used to pretty regularly go to the Vietnamese restaurant next door. Well, my friend and I finally went back this week! It is such good food and so cheap. La Petit Saigon is the name!
♥ Decorations: Because I knew I would be out of the house a lot over the next month, I wanted to start decorating early. I raided the dollar store and got some cute tinsel and the smallest tree EVER, which is currently sitting on the desk next to me. It’s not much, but it’s a lot more festive.
♥ Black Friday: In other news, I went Black Friday shopping and survived. I recommend visiting in the morning, as I thought the crowds were increasing when I left at about 2:30pm. I stocked up on warm clothing for myself at Old Navy, and ticked everything off my Christmas shopping list. Success!
♥ Mexican night: My friends and I had a late night taco fix at Tacofino on Friday night. Seriously, I love that place. You haven’t lived until you’ve tried their fish taco.
♥ Published: I got another travel story published this week, on a website called Travioor. Click here to check out my post about my five favourite neighbourhoods for foodies in Canada. Tacos may or may not be mentioned.
♥ Another week, another book: Yep, that’s correct. I finished a totally cheesy Christmas book called Christmas Caramel Murder. I picked it up at the library to get into the spirit, but I wouldn’t recommend it. Even though the author has apparently published 20 or so books, I found the dialogue to be bit inauthentic and not how normal humans talk.
♥ Gilmore Girls: Okay, unless you have been living under a rock you know that the new Gilmore Girls 4-part series was released on Friday. I actually started re-watching the series in anticipation, but I am still at season 5 out of 7. I did start watching the new episodes though and I am up to the last, but so far I am underwhelmed. Although I am enjoying and relating (too much to) Rory’s nomadness. Has anyone else watched it? Let me know your thoughts. But please don’t spoil the last four words!
This week is a lot of work between three jobs and writing (!!), but I am sure it won’t be without adventures.
