Welcome back to Hayley Lately. Each month, this is where I chat about my life and what I’ve been up to in Melbourne. Keep reading to discover the book I couldn’t put down, my new favourite show and the best Melbourne eats.
Life lately
November to me involved too much stress and anxiety for my liking. I’m very glad to be waving goodbye to the month and welcoming December (and Christmas) with open arms. Packing, moving, dealing with our previous real estate agent and working nine days in a row is basically what my November involved. But our new apartment is great and I’ve settled in nicely, so there’s that.
Fun-wise, I did go see Glades with my friend last weekend and they were SO good. I love supporting Australian music. Click through the Instagram below for some short videos from their gig. We were right up the front, which made it even more fun.

Reading lately
I somehow still got some books read in November, between all the working and moving. First up was A Fall of Marigolds, which is a great historical fiction read set in both past and present New York City. Then there was War Storm, the final book in the Red Queen series. It wasn’t the BEST ending and it was a BIG read. Book three was a new favourite romance novel called Love and Other Words. Highly recommend.

Blogging lately
I didn’t get a lot of new content on Hayley on Holiday this month. Besides my Black Friday travel deals post (most of the deals are finished now), I did spend a lot of time on my traveller’s gift guide post, which I hope is handy!

Eating lately
I didn’t do a lot of exciting eating in November either (told you, boring stressful month around here). But I did finally try Penny for Pound, a bakery close to my old apartment. Oh my goodness their pastries are ridiculous (ridiculously delicious). I also checked out a new place in Chinatown with a visiting family friend called Dragon Boat. It was a bit more upscale, so the dishes were a little pricey, but they were good.

Watching lately
Okay, so I have started watching a couple of Christmas movies already. What can I say, they cheered me up when I was having a bad day/s. On Netflix, The Princess Switch is horribly cliched (as most Christmas movies are), but The Holiday Calendar isn’t as much of a cheesefest. I also may have rewatched The Christmas Prince to prepare for this year’s sequel.
MY FAVOURITE MONTH! December will include a little work and a lot of play, as I head home for Christmas and to finally meet my niece for the first time.
