When I visited the United States in 2014, Asheville was not on my radar of places I needed to visit. However, I’ve noticed the city in North Carolina getting a lot of attention recently – especially on social media. It’s located next to the Blue Ridge Mountains and has a fantastic arts scene. Its beautiful architecture isn’t horrible to look at either. So if you choose this city as your next escape (and why wouldn’t you?), here are five Asheville hotels to make your stay even better.
Five of the best Asheville hotels
The Residences at Biltmore
If you prefer to stay in apartment-style accommodation, then The Residences at Biltmore is definitely a great choice. Each of the 54 apartments includes a kitchen, fireplace, balcony, flat-screen television, and washer and dryer. There’s also an on-site fitness centre and spa, but unfortunately no restaurant or cafe. The stunning Biltmore Estate is conveniently located less than one mile from this accommodation option.
Brookstone Lodge
For a hotel with excellent room rates and plenty to offer, check out Brookstone Lodge. Kids under 16 stay for free at this hotel. Plus, a rollaway bed will only set you back $10 a night. There’s a beautiful indoor pool, complimentary breakfast buffet and business centre as well. The lodge is in close proximity to the city’s downtown area. Asheville Fun Depot is also next door, which the entire family will enjoy.
Clarion Inn Biltmore Village
A stay at Clarion Inn puts you within walking distance of the infamous Biltmore Estate and the historic Biltmore Village. Each room is equipped with coffee-making facilities, a refrigerator, and a pillow-top mattress. There is a free buffet breakfast daily, and an outdoor pool to enjoy if you visit Asheville in the summertime.
Hill House B&B Inn
If B&Bs are more your thing, Hill House has you covered. The inn features ten beautifully-presented guest rooms that are each individually decorated. There’s a full breakfast served daily and a computer station. The concierge service is also waiting to help guests plan their visit to Asheville. There is plenty to see and do within 15 minutes of the Hill House Inn as well. This includes the downtown area, Asheville Mall, the city’s Botanical Gardens and of course Biltmore Estate.
Haywood Park Hotel
For a luxurious stay in Asheville, choose Haywood Park Hotel. Guests are greeted with champagne on arrival at the hotel. There’s also a nightly turndown service that comes complete with handmade chocolates. The hotel actually used to be a department store, so it’s in a perfectly central location. Some nearby attractions include the US Cellular Centre, Thomas Wolfe Auditorium and Diana Wortham Theatre. Travellers can also hop on the Gray Line Trolley Tour directly outside the front door. Now that’s service.
If you’re after a place in the United States that offers the best of both worlds (the city and the country), then check out Asheville. Visiting the city means you can explore the Blue Ridge Mountains by day and the Downtown Arts District at night.
