Hawaii was the first American state I visited back in 2013. Fortunately, Honolulu’s laidback nature, excellent food and glorious beaches made an excellent first impression. If you’re thinking of visiting the island state soon (excellent decision), I’ve rounded up four Honolulu hotels below. These accommodation options are all close to Waikiki Beach, which is all you really need for a Hawaii getaway.
Four great Honolulu hotels
Family and pet friendly
A great hotel for families is definitely the Aqua Palms Waikiki. The rooms are large and each includes a furnished balcony and small kitchenette with mini-refrigerator and microwave. There are also two on-site restaurants: Big Kahuna and China Garden. Big Kahuna is a tiki-inspired bar featuring pizzas and burgers, while China Garden focuses on Cantonese cuisine. The hotel is just two blocks from Waikiki Beach and the best part? The family dog (if under 40 pounds) can come on holiday too, at an extra cost of $35 per night.
Honolulu luxury
If you are looking for a luxurious stay in Honolulu, check out the Hawaii Prince Hotel Waikiki. Each of the 541 rooms is fitted with fluffy bathrobes and slippers, floor-to-ceiling windows with ocean views, and in-room massages are available. Otherwise, guests can always head downstairs to the on-site spa where there are plenty of luxury treatments on offer. There is also a pool, deli, sundeck and fitness centre. The hotel is located in Waikiki, just a short walk from the amazing Ala Moana Shopping Centre. Paid parking options are available, too.
Comfortable and convenient
The Maile Sky Court offers rooms and suites to guests, with sweeping views of the Honolulu city and ocean. Rooms include refrigerators, while suites have kitchenettes to make your stay even more convenient. The on-site restaurant, Vit’s Hawaiian Steakhouse, serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The hotel also has a sundeck, pool, two meeting rooms, and business centre. Maile Sky Court is just a stroll from the beach, but other nearby places include the DFS Galleria, Waikiki Beach Walk, and International Market Place. Guests can also choose to spend $10 a night per room on a resort fee, which covers a shuttle service, Wi-Fi, and access to a library of books, DVDs and video games.
Affordable with all the amenities
For an affordable stay near Waikiki Beach, choose the Aqua Aloha Surf Waikiki. Some of the hotel’s great amenities include a laundry, fitness centre, pool, and an ATM. Guests who are keen to save money will love the in-room kitchenettes, as well as the on-site barbecue grills. The Aqua Aloha Surf Waikiki is also home to a full-service spa, and each room has a sunlit balcony for relaxing any time of the day. There is a shuttle service, and a 24-hour guest services agent to assist you with planning Honolulu activities. Being just a quick walk from the beach means you can be playing volleyball, swimming, and kayaking in no time at all.
The next time you are in need of some Hawaii time, definitely check out one of these great Honolulu hotels.
