California is definitely one of my favourite American states. What is there not to love about having sunshine, sand, and the sea at your doorstep? From Santa Cruz to San Diego, there are plenty of places to visit in California. Lucky for you, I’ve compiled a list of five great California hotels. Choose one of these for your next Californian escape.
California hotels
All the San Francisco extras
If you are looking for a budget hotel option close to San Francisco that includes a lot of complimentary extras, check out La Quinta Inn San Francisco Airport North. There’s free Wi-Fi in every room, free parking and guests can enjoy a complimentary breakfast daily. Pets can also stay for free, although there are weight restrictions. Furthermore, guests can take the free shuttle service to the airport, which is conveniently just a mile away. The hotel is just two blocks from the South San Francisco Conference Centre too.
Budget in San Jose
For a bargain yet comfortable stay in San Jose, choose EZ 8 Motel San Jose II. Rooms start from just $60 per night, which is very affordable for its Silicon Valley position. Rooms have a microwave, refrigerator, and workstation, which is very convenient for both business and leisure travellers. The hotel is located 3 miles from downtown San Jose, and 5 miles from both Santa Clara University and the Great America Theme Park.
Stay with Charlie Chaplin
Built by Charlie Chaplin in 1928, the Montecito Inn in Santa Barbara is 4-star luxury at a great price. Rooms are fitted with free Wi-Fi, minibars, heated bathroom floors, and kitchenettes. The hotel has a pool, fitness centre, spa, and restaurant and bar. There is also room service and babysitting available for guests. Close by, visitors will find seven beautiful beaches, Santa Barbara Zoo, and the local botanic gardens.
Perfect for pets
If you want to take your dog with you to a hotel in South San Francisco, CitiGarden Hotel SFO is for you. There are weight restrictions, but your furry friend will love the on-site dog exercise area. With prices beginning at $130 a night, this hotel is an affordable accommodation choice. The Beijing Buffet Restaurant serves breakfast daily and has 150 dishes to choose from for lunch and dinner, too. The hotel has an outdoor pool, free parking, 24-hour front desk, and ATM for added convenience.
Art deco charm
If you are after a beautiful, independent art deco hotel in downtown San Jose, check out Hotel De Anza. There are both room and suite options, but all are fitted with a workspace, refrigerator, and complimentary Midnight Snack Box. There are three on-site dining options, including the exclusive Hedley Club Lounge. It is home to live jazz on Friday and Saturday nights. Hotel De Anza also has conference rooms, a 24-hour fitness centre, and wedding planning services. The hotel and its iconic sign are located in San Jose’s business area, just two blocks from the San Pedro entertainment district.
The next time you find yourself California dreaming, book one of these boutique hotels.
