A Lower Manhattan Ladies Day in New York City

Many New York residents and tourists skip Lower Manhattan to explore its next-door neighbours: Midtown and Upper Manhattan. But Lower Manhattan has a lot to offer everyone, especially ladies having a day out with just the girls. Here’s a sample itinerary for enjoying Lower Manhattan to its fullest.

How to have a fun Lower Manhattan ladies day

Brunch it up

Brunch is perhaps the most important meal to enjoy on a ladies day and Lower Manhattan has some great options. Agave in the West Village has a bottomless brunch until 4 pm every day. For $28 customers receive an entrée plus their choice of bottomless mimosas, sangria, Bloody Mary’s or margaritas. In Nolita, there is chicken and waffles to devour at Mother’s Ruin. Brunch is the perfect start to a day of exploration and enjoyment.

New York City should be on every North America itinerary for solo travellers.
Exploring the West Village

Be a tourist

A visit to Lower Manhattan must include a little bit of tourism. The area is home to the 9/11 Memorial Plaza and Museum, to remember the lives lost. It’s also the place to be to get the best view of the Statue of Liberty. For a budget ladies day, why not take the free Staten Island Ferry to catch a glimpse of Lady Liberty? Otherwise, visit Statue Cruises to get up close and personal with New York City’s most famous resident.

Shop til you drop

A day with the girls is obviously not complete without some shopping. Set aside a lot of time to search Century21. The massive department store has floor after floor of amazing bargains, waiting for you to purchase them. Pier 17 is also one of the biggest indoor malls in Manhattan if you’d like more options. However, if there’s cash to splash then head to the high-end retailers in the Financial District.

Head Off-Broadway

Have the best ladies night out and enjoy an Off-Broadway show. The tickets are cheaper than Broadway productions but the shows are no less impressive. A recommendation is Stomp, but there are plenty of performances to suit all tastes. After the show seek out a happy hour spot in Noho or Soho, as the streets are filled with excellent bars and eateries.

Sleep in comfort

After shopping, sightseeing, brunching and Broadway-ing, everyone will no doubt be tired. To end the night in complete luxury, check into the Conrad New York. The hotel is spread over 16 floors and each room includes Hudson River views across to New Jersey. Conrad New York also has a seasonal rooftop bar and is in close proximity to all the New York City attractions: Wall Street, the Stock Exchange, and the Tribeca and Soho neighbourhoods.

So on a visit to New York City, ensure that Lower Manhattan is not skipped for the top half of Manhattan Island. The area obviously has plenty to offer everyone, particularly the ladies who want to enjoy some quality time together without the men. There is a Lower Manhattan activity to suit every type of girl: from the budget-conscious to the luxurious and the adventurous.
