Where To Stay in Legian – The Best Hotels For Every Budget

This post may contain affiliate links. For more information, please read the full disclosure policy here.

Seeing as my post on where to eat in Legian is pretty popular, I thought I’d follow up with my guide to the best Legian hotels. Between myself and my family and friends, we have stayed in quite a few Legian hotels. It is our favourite place in Bali after all.

So if you are unsure about where to stay in Bali, fear not, because I have you covered. The best thing is, these Legian hotels suit families, couples, and mothers and daughters travelling together. They also range from a bargain to slightly more Western-style pricing.

MY RECOMMENDATIONS FOR LEGIAN HOTELS

HOTEL KUMALA PANTAI

PERFECT FOR FAMILIES AND FOODIES

Although I haven’t stayed at Kumala Pantai, I am a HUGE fan of their restaurant. It’s Italian, so they serve gelato and pizza underneath these big trees opposite the beach. I absolutely devour their Nasi Goreng every time, which you can see below. This was my birthday lunch, and this photo makes me SO hungry. Anyway, they also serve a beautiful breakfast (according to my parents), have two pools and a swim-up bar, but the beds are not as comfortable as Rama Garden! It’s also a popular option for families and it’s next door to Jayakarta.

RAMA GARDEN HOTEL

PERFECT FOR MUMS AND DADS

We visited the Rama Garden Hotel in 2016, as our family friends were staying there. We spent the afternoon eating at the restaurant, swimming in the pool, and getting spa treatments up the road (Luna is my favourite). Here are three things I love about Rama Garden. A) The Nasi Campur at the onsite restaurant is AMAZING. Plus, they have a huge screen for sports fans. B) The pool was a good size and the rooms surrounded it. It was also pretty quiet, seeing as it isn’t far from the road. C) My parents would like me to mention how soft the beds are here. They are alllll about pillowtop mattresses and the Rama Garden gets their tick of approval (hardly anywhere in Bali does, just saying). My family friends were also travelling with their adult son, so the rooms are comfortable for three people.

JAYAKARTA HOTEL

PERFECT FOR FAMILIES

The Jayakarta Hotel is the place I have stayed the most in Legian. There are many things to love about this property. A) It’s located directly on the beach. B) There are two pools and plenty of lounge chairs. C) There are hotel rooms and apartments. I have seen inside the hotel rooms of family friends, and they are pretty standard. However, when I have travelled to Bali previously with my mum and dad, the apartments are perfect. They get their own room, I get the lounge, and we have a kitchen and plenty of space. Jayakarta is seriously perfect for families with teenagers, as there are one and two-bedroom apartment options too. Although I’ve included links for the hotel below, for the apartments I recommend just googling ‘Jayakarta apartments,’ as many of them are privately owned.

BALI MANDIRA BEACH RESORT AND SPA

PERFECT FOR ROMANTIC GETAWAYS

Bali Mandira is a hotel on my wishlist, but I wanted to include a variety of properties in this roundup of Legian hotels. It is similar to the Niksoma, which is listed below. We’re talking by the ocean, rooms with Western pricing, two pools, an onsite spa and four restaurants/bars/lounges. For couples who want to kick back, relax and indulge, this is the spot for you.

Update: I was fortunate a guest of Bali Mandira in August 2019 – check out my post for all the reasons you should stay there on your next visit to Legian.

SWISS-BELINN LEGIAN

PERFECT FOR TWO PEOPLE TRAVELLING TOGETHER

The Swiss-Belinn is where my mum and I stayed for our girl’s getaway in 2016. It’s a newer hotel, so the rooms are pristine and modern. We shared a twin room, which would be perfect for two friends travelling together too. There is also a small gym (which we visited once and then opted for walks instead). The breakfast buffet is excellent, and my mum liked that she could get a ‘real’ coffee every morning for about $2.50. I just liked the chef making my scrambled eggs perfectly before my eyes. The rooftop pool area is also AWESOME, with views of the Balinese terracotta roofs and the sea. It was also very reasonably priced for how new it is. We paid just over $40AU a night…for both of us.

KUSNADI

PERFECT FOR BUDGET-MINDED TRAVELLERS AND FRIENDS TRAVELLING TOGETHER

This was a recent discovery my parents found on their last trip to Legian. Kusnadi Hotel is a cheap but beautifully-presented hotel located about seven minutes from the beach. My mum said it was a good option for us if we do another mother-daughter trip, as the pool looked beautiful, there’s a free daily buffet breakfast and bungalows! They also raved about the immaculate gardens onsite. With rates starting from $45AU, Kusnadi is definitely a great Legian hotel option.

BALI NIKSOMA BEACH BOUTIQUE RESORT

PERFECT FOR HONEYMOONERS AND COUPLES

Located directly on Legian Beach a little bit up from Jayakarta, Niksoma is one of those hotels I’ve always wished I could stay in. Or just, you know, spend the day at their pool. I’ve walked passed it several times over the years. But with rates about five times the price of Swiss-Belinn, I’ll keep dreaming for a little bit longer. What you get for that price is two pools overlooking the water, an onsite spa, a waterfront bar and restaurant, and some pretty sweet suites (and rooms, but I couldn’t help myself).

I love Legian and I love Legian hotels. It isn’t as ‘hip’ as Seminyak or as chaotic as Kuta, which is why I like it. The best of both worlds, really. I also think it’s great for everyone and every budget — from families to honeymooners to retirees.

If I’m missing one of the best Legian hotels, let me know in the comments!
