La Jolla is an affluent neighbourhood within the San Diego city limits. It borders the rugged Pacific Ocean coastline for 11 kilometres, which means it’s the perfect spot for a beach holiday. Seeing as it’s on the Southern Californian coast, a visit to La Jolla means year-round sunshine and surf. If this interests you, then check out these five boutique hotels in La Jolla for your next Californian escape.

5 great La Jolla hotels

Village life at Empress

For an accommodation option in the heart of La Jolla Village, choose Empress Hotel of La Jolla. The boutique hotel has 73 beach-themed rooms and suites, which all conveniently include free Wi-Fi, coffee making facilities, complimentary bottled water, microwaves and fridges. One of the hotel’s best features is the in-room spa services, which is available thanks to Empress’ Spa2Go partnership. Pets are welcomed guests at the hotel too, so you can enjoy beachfront strolls alongside your regular walking buddy. Being in the Village means you’ll be steps away from award-winning restaurants, boutiques, and art galleries.

Swing on into The Lodge

The Lodge at Torrey Pines is an excellent place to stay for visitors interested in playing golf. It’s located on the 18th fairway of Torrey Pines Golf Course and it has many great amenities. These include four restaurants, a fitness centre, a library, conference room, outdoor pool and a spacious spa with 14 treatment rooms. It’ll be hard to tear yourself away from this La Jolla hotel and its rustic rooms, that’s for sure.

Elegant Estancia

If you are after an elegant stay in this seaside community, then Estancia La Jolla Hotel and Spa is for you. The hotel’s options range from standard rooms to suites (including a presidential suite) and guests can expect little slices of luxury in each room. Estancia is home to three restaurants, and its concierge will happily assist you in planning the perfect holiday as well. Plus, if you drive an electric vehicle, there are convenient charging stations on site.

Not only do guests have access to the beach, but there are also 12 tennis courts, a nine-hole golf course and a heated outdoor swimming pool. Each suite includes a kitchenette with oven, microwave, refrigerator and coffee making facilities too. Guests can also choose a suite with ocean views or a cottage beside the golf course.

On La Jolla’s shore

Located next to La Jolla Shores Park, La Jolla Shores Hotel has something to offer everyone. After a day by the pool or beach, guests will enjoy returning to their climate-controlled room with blackout curtains. After a good night’s rest, take the complimentary shuttle to different nearby attractions or work out in the fitness centre.
