In an effort to blog more, I wanted to breakdown my monthly Hayley Lately posts into weekly segments. Each week I will share some happy moments: what I’ve been blogging, reading, watching and doing in beautiful Vancouver. Let’s just call it my weekly gratitude journal.

♥ Last week was a lot of fun. My aunt and uncle, who have been living in Houston this year, visited me for three days. Although the weather wasn’t the greatest, I was still able to show them the city’s highlights. These included Stanley Park, Gastown, Granville Island and Queen Elizabeth Park.

♥ We also did quite a bit of drinking and eating at some excellent places. First up was Main Street Brewing, which was new for me but they had an excellent lighter-flavoured beer on tap. We did lunch at Meat & Bread, an old favourite but still a winning combination. A final highlight was Trattoria for dinner, where we saw our pizzas being prepped and cooked in front of us. A Burnaby recommendation.

♥ We took a day trip to Whistler, and stopped on the way at Shannon Falls. Thanks to all the rain we have been getting lately, the water was powering down the mountain.

♥ I had never seen Whistler as quiet as it was on Wednesday. It was my third visit and the village was a ghost town. The positive? I did get some cool photos of the fog creeping over the mountains.

♥ We ended up watching most of the World Series at Boston Pizza on Wednesday night. Great place for food and sports, by the way! I have only watched baseball once (the NY Yankees when visiting NYC), but I was definitely getting into the game and cheering for Chicago. I couldn’t imagine waiting since 1908 for my team to win. YIKES.

♥ I finished reading another book this week. I need to count how many books I have read this year. It may be a record! Anyway, this week was Someday, Someday, Maybe by Lauren Graham. If that name sounds familiar, Graham is known for her roles on Gilmore Girls and Parenthood. This is her debut novel  and I really enjoyed it. It was set in 1995 New York City, and is about a young actress trying to “make it” by her deadline in six months.

♥ We did the FlyOver Canada experience, which a lot of other visitors have recommended to me. Fortunately, it lived up to the hype. From your seat you essentially flyover Canada, from the Rockies to Toronto to the Prairies. I don’t want to give too much away, but it was amazingly well done.

♥ Fall is nearly over and winter is fast approaching. So I am glad I got a glimpse of Stanley Park in all its fiery glory before the wind blows all of these leaves away. Seriously, have you seen a prettier row of trees?

Fall in Vancouver, Canada

♥ Last night my friends finally convinced me to do an Escape game with them. I was only slightly apprehensive, but it wasn’t as claustrophobic as I thought. It was a cool experience, made better by a stop at Pearl Castle on the way home.

I have a few fun things planned this week, including trivia, brunch dates and a music gig!
