From rooftop bars and hawker feasts to free light shows and late-night shopping, here are the best things to do in Singapore at night.
I think Singapore gives New York City a run for its money as the city that doesn’t sleep. Food, shopping, and entertainment don’t stop once the sun sets. So here’s my comprehensive list of the best things to do in Singapore at night, from free attractions to unique experiences and the best bites.

Singapore general travel tips
Before we jump in, here are some helpful Singapore travel tips:
- Solo travel: As a solo female traveller, I’ve never felt uncomfortable exploring Singapore after dark, which is why it’s one of my favourite places to visit alone (and favourite cities period). Do what feels right for you, but this is my personal experience.
- Budget travel: Singapore isn’t cheap, but these budget travel tips will help you get started. Eat at hawker stalls, use the fantastic public transport system, and stay at hostels. I’ve personally stayed at and recommend Dream Lodge and Wink at Mosque Street in Chinatown.
- Getting to and from the airport: Public transport is the easiest option. Alternatively, use Grab, the Uber alternative in Asia, or organise a Booking.com airport taxi or private transfer.
Free things to do in Singapore at night
Let’s start with my favourite places to go in Singapore at night for free.

1. Watch the Supertrees come alive at Gardens by the Bay
The Supertree Grove is a must-see by day (click here for skip-the-line Gardens by the Bay admission tickets), but at night it’s pure magic. The free Garden Rhapsody synchronised light and sound show happens nightly at 7:45 and 8:45 pm. The 15-minute show is so mesmerising, it’ll have you snapping a hundred photos and videos before you know it (I wish I were kidding). Visit the Gardens by the Bay website to see upcoming special events, too.
2. Enjoy free music at Esplanade
The Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay regularly hosts free nighttime music events. Check out their website to see what’s on during your visit. You might get to catch an EP release, an orchestral performance, or live music under the stars.

3. Catch the Spectra Light and Water Show
Every night, Marina Bay Sands lights up the waterfront with music, water jets, and lasers. The 15-minute Spectra show runs at 8 and 9 pm and looks best from the Event Plaza or across the water at the Esplanade.
Tip: Head here first, then wander over to Gardens By The Bay for its show. This is one of my favourite ways to spend a night in Singapore.
4. Wander Chinatown’s Night Market
Pick up souvenirs, snack on street food, or just soak in the atmosphere. The lanterns and neon lights make it one of the prettiest spots after dark.

5. Take a night walk along the Helix Bridge
This futuristic bridge glows beautifully at night. It links Marina Bay Sands to the Esplanade, making it the perfect post-dinner stroll.
6. Hang out at Jewel Changi Airport
Even if you’re not flying, it’s worth the trip to experience all the fun at Singapore Airport. Changi Airport has a great nighttime guide, but the Rain Vortex waterfall glows beautifully at night, there’s a Sunflower Garden in Terminal 2, theatrical performances in Terminal 4, and free movies at the theatre in Terminal 3! Don’t forget the loads of late-night food options, too.
Unique things to do in Singapore at night
Here are some places to go at night in Singapore if you want to step outside the box.
7. Go wild at the Singapore Night Safari
The world’s first nocturnal zoo is one of Singapore’s top attractions. Take the tram through six geographical regions or wander the walking trails to see over 2,500 nocturnal animals under the moonlight. You can hop from Australia’s wallaby family to the Leopard Trail. Click here for Night Safari tickets.

8. Strap in for a nighttime bike tour
The Light to Night Bike Tour has you riding through historic Singapore neighbourhoods at night alongside a local guide. You start in Kampong Glam, head to Little India, then cycle through Chinatown before ending at Marina Bay. It’s such a unique way to see Singapore at night, and did I mention a local snack and souvenir are included?
9. Paddle in a lit-up kayak!
Does it get anymore unique than an LED Night Kayak Tour? I think not. You’ll paddle through the calm waters of Pasir Ris in a glowing kayak in the colour of your choice, feeling like you’ve stepped into a real-life light show. Along the way, your guide shares fascinating insights into the local mangrove ecosystem. There’s time for a well-earned drink break and plenty of photo ops, before finishing with something truly special: a rare, hands-on wild mussel harvesting experience that most visitors never get to try.
Fun things to do at night in Singapore
Okay, onto some of the most fun places to visit in Singapore at night.

10. Cruise the Singapore River
Hop on a bumboat and glide past the city’s most famous landmarks, all lit up beautifully. It’s peaceful, photogenic, and a great way to end the day. This Singapore River Cruise starts from Clarke Quay and lets you visit Merlion Park before watching the Garden Rhapsody and Spectra light shows. Five attractions in one!
11. See the city from Marina Bay Sands SkyPark
Head up to the observation deck on the 56th floor of Marina Bay Sands for jaw-dropping skyline views. Go around sunset for the best photos. Click here to skip the SkyPark queues and head to the rooftop bar for a drink afterward.

12. Ride the Singapore Flyer
Get a 360-degree view of the city lights from 165 metres up on Asia’s largest observation wheel. It’s one of the best ways to see Singapore sparkle. Click here for Singapore Flyer tickets.
13. Check out the lights on Sentosa
Sentosa Island is one of the best places to visit in Singapore at night. Sip cocktails at beach clubs like Tanjong Beach Club or Ola Beach Club, enjoy relaxed waterfront dining at Coastes or Bikini Bar, then catch the spectacular Wings of Time show with water, lasers, and fireworks at Siloso Beach.
For something free and interactive, stroll through the glowing Sensoryscape Glow Garden, or level up the night with spa treatments, rooftop bars, evening attractions like Madame Tussauds, or a scenic Sentosa Cable Car ride for sparkling island views. To save time, this Sentosa small-group tour includes the cable car, Wings of Time, and Sensoryscape.

14. Late-night shop on Orchard Road
Orchard Road is Singapore’s premier shopping street, lined with mall after mall. Fortunately, most shops are open late, so you don’t have to stop spending money once the sun sets. You’re also spoiled for choice when it comes to food and drink. Just don’t forget to get an ice cream sandwich from one of the local sellers outside for dessert!
15. Hop on board the Big Bus
I know you’ve heard about Big Bus tours. But did you know they do night tours? I did one in Las Vegas, and it was amazing! Singapore’s Big Bus Night Tour is a great experience, especially if you have limited time in the city.
Alongside a local guide, you stop at Marina Barrage to watch the sunset. Then you head to Lau Pa Sat for a complimentary satay tasting. Next is the Garden Rhapsody show before a drive down Orchard Road to end the night. Alternatively, you can finish at Clarke Quay for a drink; the choice is yours.
Food & drink fun in Singapore at night
For food and drink, here are my go-to places to visit at night in Singapore.

16. Feast at a Hawker Centre
No night out in Singapore is complete without a hawker run. Grab chicken rice at Maxwell Food Centre, satay under the fairy lights at Lau Pa Sat, or enjoy seafood at Newton Food Centre.
17. Visit Makansutra Gluttons Bay
Makansutra Gluttons Bay is a place I must check out next time! The open-air hawker spot near Esplanade has been around for 20 years and offers 11 stalls alongside a killer view of Marina Bay. Expect local favourites like fried carrot cake and BBQ wings to be available until late.
18. Sing your heart out at K.Star Karaoke
K.Star Karaoke was Singapore’s first karaoke bar. If you’re visiting with friends, reserve a themed private room and have fun belting out the biggest hits. K.Star has locations across Singapore and opening hours stretching into the early morning. Plus, the food and drinks selection is as good as their music selection.
Tip: Happy-hour prices are available from 1 pm to 8 pm.

19. Hit Clarke Quay and Boat Quay
This riverside area is always buzzing with bars, live music, and restaurants. It’s the place to go if you want a drink with a view.
20. Try a cable car sky dining experience
Glide between Mount Faber and Sentosa while enjoying a private dinner with views, thanks to Cable Car SkyDining. It’s romantic, unique, and definitely one for the memory books.
21. Challenge friends at a board game cafe
If you visit Singapore on a rainy evening, may I recommend heading inside to a board game cafe instead? Grab snacks and a drink and settle in for hours of fun at any one of these board game cafes.

22. Sip a Singapore Sling at Raffles Hotel
Yes, it’s touristy (and expensive), but it’s also tradition. Order the original cocktail at the Long Bar and imagine old Singapore glamour.
23. Join a local street food tour
The Guided Street Food Tour at Night takes you through Clarke Quay, Boat Quay, and Marina Bay, where you can enjoy seeing Singapore sparkling at night as you learn local insights. Then you end the night at Lau Pa Sat, where you can feast on popular Singaporean dishes without the queues.
24. Go bar hopping at rooftop bars
Singapore has several rooftop bars. Just remember that alcohol is one big hit to the budget in Singapore! But if you have cash to splash, NOVA is the city’s highest rooftop bar, Southbridge is a bit more of a hidden secret, and Las Palmas has a Palm Springs-inspired cocktail menu.

25. Explore Kampong Glam
The golden dome of the Sultan Mosque glows at night, and nearby Haji and Bali Lanes are lined with shisha lounges, bars, and live music (not to mention street art). Top recommendations include Blu Jaz Cafe for live jazz, Bar Stories for cocktails, and dinner at The Coconut Club.
26. Visit Little India at Night
Another neighbourhood that’s alive after dark is Little India. Admire the lights along Serangoon Road and grab a delicious dosa from Komala Vilas Restaurant. You also can’t visit Singapore without taking a spin through the four-storey Mustafa Centre. The local shopping mall is open 24/7 and sells everything from gold jewellery to electronics and snacks.
27. Play (and win) at Cow Play Cow Moo
Arcade lovers will be in heaven at Cow Play Cow Moo. Singapore’s largest arcade, it has locations across the city. Try your luck at the claw machines, have fun in the photo booths, or challenge your friends to a racing game.

Whether you’re watching lights dance across the bay, eating your way through a hawker centre, or singing karaoke until midnight, Singapore knows how to put on a show after dark. I hope this guide to the best things to do in Singapore at night is useful, and you add one or five night adventures in Singapore to your itinerary.
Singapore at night FAQs
Take your pick! You can enjoy free night activities in Singapore, such as the light-and-sound shows at Marina Bay Sands and Gardens by the Bay. Alternatively, dine at hawker centres, sip in style at a rooftop bar, do a tour, or sing your heart out at karaoke.

I’ve done several of these night activities in Singapore alone. I’ve visited both free light shows, eaten at different hawker centres, wandered Chinatown, and shopped along Orchard Road.
All of these are great options for places to go in Singapore for couples at night. But my top picks include visiting a rooftop bar and dining on a cable car for a unique date night. If you want cheaper fun, stick to a hawker stall, then head to the free music at Esplanade. Alternatively, treat yourself to a tour for something different.
